Boating Safety Should be Top on your Summer List

Boating OUI promises you the maximum if you're caught drinking while driving a boat. Water is not a place to be drinking. In fact, it is the one place that you would want to practice the strictest safety to help protect and save lives this summer.

If you love Arizona as much as I do, or other great places where boating on the lakes is like heaven, then you would be wise to share some safety rules with your family and friends. I recommend making a safety list to share and learn. What would you include in your vacation safety list?

Never drink while driving a boat. The passengers, i.e., your family or friends, have placed their safety and lives in your hands by merely getting onto the boat with you. Bring them off the water alive and safe.

Consider wearing life jackets, especially for everyone who is not an avid swimmer.Make sure all children wear life jackets. In my family, this is an absolute rule. We also seat the children away from the edges of boats where they could accidentally fall off the side. It happens and it's tragic.

Be careful out there this summer. Vacations are meant to be fun and water is a big part of my summer time recreation. It's popular with lots of people, yet accidents happen every year. My heart breaks every time I hear about a drunk driving boating accident or an accidental drowning caused by a collision.

That brings up another bit of safety advice I want to share with you. Obey the boating speed limits and use common sense. Come in off the water before dark and enjoy some land recreation.I love a great campfire myself and toasting marshmallows.

Arizona is a great place to visit in the summertime or any time. Just remember that law enforcement has a job to do and you can make their job easier while enjoying a safe vacation.
