Polish your Intention Making Skills

Sunday, April 26, 2009 - 0 Comments

Setting intentions in anything that you do is very important in the success rate of carrying out any plans. This is the first step in bringing any plans to pass whether it be in business or family or personal life. Just setting a list of plans and steps to paper will not bring it to pass. First, you must set the intention in your mind then in your heart because it really does have to come from a place of passion within you.

Have you ever noticed how easily you are able to focus on and arrange plans say for a wedding of a friend or relative for whom you have a lot of love? Your heart and soul goes into the planning to make it the best event possible. Why is this? Because you are tapping into a passion within to bring forth events outside yourself.

It's almost like being able to perform some kind of magic, yet it is not magic. We all have the capability to achieve astounding things on all levels but first we must feel it, be touched by it then be strongly moved by it.

Have you read any miracle stories? How about stories involving people who have overcome great obstacles to achieve fantastic things? Or stories about recovery from terminal illness or from a natural disaster? These all tap into that same place in the heart that I am talking about...passion....that has to speak to the mind to will action.

Mel Gibson produced a movie called "The Passion of the Christ" because it took passion for Jesus Christ to make the sacrifice he made for all of mankind. That is the type of passion I'm am speaking about. It comes from a deep place of love inside each one of us that has to be tapped into and exercised. To achieve great things you must first desire it, then your heart needs to feel it which tells your mind to will it.

There are some great books on the subject, a few which I have been fortunate enough to have come my way. The Power of the Will was a book written in the very early 1900's. While visiting a friends farm in Ohio she loaned the book to me. She found it at a used book sale and it was quite a find being dated 1904. I read it,then I poured over it absorbing the books contents. I made notes on the precepts taught there and made intentional efforts to practice some of the principles to help develop my will. This book will be part of my fabric now because it has helped unlock that passionate place inside me to do things because they are worth the doing and because my heart tells me so.

Whenever I remember where I packed the book inside the van, I'll dust it off and share some excerpts here. It would be a great study for this blog day planner exercise of planning your blogging or other freelance writing or any business. It will help with personal changes that you desire to make inside your self. I can't wait to make this exciting journey.

My plans for today are fairly simple. Share my thoughts. Write as much as I can on my blogs to catch up. Work on some personal relationships and on rainbow events that move me. Cephas and I spent a very long day in the sun yesterday working on our van getting half a dozen major new parts put on to help us run better. We have a few miles to go with this van and we have realized that to keep it we need to love it and to have the passion enough to work on its complete restoration.

So follow along here as we build our selves, our blogs, our businesses and our van. Share your progress stories with us please on how you are learning to develop the potential that awaits inside you to help you actualize your dreams in life and love and work.

Discipline is Crucial in Meeting Blogging Plans

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 - 0 Comments

Any business that wants to be effective needs to exercise proper planning. Blogging is a business so it needs to be treated with the same professionalism as any business whether it's freelance, a franchise or corporate. If you want to succeed, learn effecutive planning then practice carrying out those plans. Treat the planner like a blueprint for a building.

So this platform is a learning exercise for me as well. If you are following along with the day planner and utilizing the same concept in your blogging or freelance business, then we will be learning to improve our discipline together. Every day is a new day and I start over. That is a healthy way to approach this exercise because there is no such thing as failure in a learning exercise.

Here's the rundown on my progress for this week.

This is early Thursday morning and for me the week end's Sunday morning then begins again. Let's call this the half way point. I guess I should have bought the odometer last week to keep track of my mileage in the running exercise.

I missed writing on the domain blog at Mountain Spirit Productions. In light of this realization, that will be the next place to post.

The Midnight Writer is my busiest blog because most of my regular clients as well as new ones request reviews there. It has the best page rank. I've written well over my quota for this week as I do most of the time so it is not a concern. In fact, I picked up two new clients for this blog this week already. However, I will still write a focus every week for it. Just because you are performing in an area does not mean you should stop planning and directing your focus.

This blog is the planner on which my goal was to write five posts this week. Right now I am writing number four. As you can see, it will surpass the goal. One thing to note is that I wrote two paid posts on this blog for Social Spark which I had not intended when the focus was written. Due to this can you guess what I am going to do? Yes, you're right! I'm going to write three more posts specifically geared to the blog day planner and hopefully I will write about one of the companies or resources that I use. Or I'll write a special post about some aspect in blogging. Give me a few days to think about that.

Both the Midnight Writer's Journal and the Freelance Quest have been completely neglected. I have to make a strong effort to meet the goal quota on posts and to bring these two important blogs up to speed. They are really important because several pay to blog companies have approved them for sponsored conversations and reviews.

That would be a good topic to discuss since I am so involved in this area of blogging. Don't you think? What would you like to know about blogging and sponsored blog companies?

The Midnight Writer's Cafe
has received a little bit of attention from me because I wrote my first post there today, well yesterday technically. I planned a post every day because I am aiming to qualify for Smorty so I have to gain page rank. It looks like two posts two days in a row to make up for this one.

The Grand Central Station for all the blogs is The Midnight Writer's Blogs where I post all the finished work and talk about the different programs, companies and social sites. So far this week I have made two posts with ten planned. Again, I need a make up couple of days since I also planned some feature articles on this blog. As of right now, I'm not sure which programs or companies to feature.

Four other blogs in the line up are due for posts to include Midnight Revelry, Keep It Simple, the Secret Portal and Making of a Walking. One Tin Soldier has one post out of three. I need to find rainbow news updates. For Midnight Revelry I have some special silhouette images left to use. I always allow the images to inspire me.

This might be the week that I achieve my goal. How are you doing in keeping with your plans?

Setting Priorities

Saturday, October 4, 2008 - 0 Comments

How does a freelance writer or blogger organize their time?

With so many tasks required in the freelance writing /blogging business, it is imperative to make those lists. The next step in that goal setting focus is to prioritize that list. Decide what is most important to build a foundation for a successful business.

You heard me right.

Freelance writing and blogging is a Business.

It is imperative to treat it in a professional manner.

One Key Tip is to secure a website with a unique domain name to your freelance writing/blogging identity.

There are many aspects to building an online presence, which is also your unique identity in the vast freelance sea. "I call it creating a persona." My personal "persona" is The Midnight Writer.

On today's list, I chose updating the website which is the "calling card"

that all prospective clients will see when you advertise for freelance work.

1.
Update and fine tune the cover page to The Midnight Writer's (your persona) website.
2. Edit the index page to The Midnight Writer's website. Add a link to my blogs.
3. Change the url's on all blogs to point to the new cover page.
4. Create a profile and a portfolio page on website.
